“Let him sleep for when he wakes, he will move mountains.” Napoleon coined this phrase and it has been popping up in nurseries and online lately. This is my spin on it, with Lombardic inspired letters and woodblock themed artwork. My original idea was for the mountains to have geometric shapes and a forest of pines underneath that stretched out beneath the phrase along the length of the paper. However, the bedroom of the child in mind is decorated with an ocean theme. I kept the snowcapped mountains and scrapped the forest for whimsical waves with a tiny boat making its way through a windstorm. There are also stars shining brightly amidst clouds and a crescent moon. Watercolor and ink, hand drawn on Arches Hot Press Watercolor Paper. July 2016
