What You’ll Learn
The best thing about any calligraphy class is that you can always apply the skills you learn to other calligraphic hands you write. In this Italic calligraphy class, you’ll learn how to:
- set up your workspace for writing and practice
- hold your pen for this style of writing
- what the different guidelines are and how to use them
- how to practice to improve more quickly
- how to change the calligraphy depending on the needs of your project
You’ll be able to pick up a pen, draw a line, and write something nice in no time. Use this for thank-you notes, cards, labels, personal projects, book inscriptions, and more.

Improve your writing (Fun Fact)
Did you know that there was an effort to make Italic calligraphy the main hand writing system in schools? Because of its speed and repetition, Italic is one of the few calligraphy scripts that can be written nicely at quicker speeds. Unfortunately, since the word “calligraphy” made administrators think of “slow writing”, the efforts were unsuccessful.
That said, if you want to learn to improve your normal writing, this would be a great place to start!
